Ruapotaka Mini Olympics

Last week on Friday we were all put into teams representing countries from parts of the world. I was the flag bearer in my team. My team was the Cook Islands. There were a lot of parents watching the events. There were many different sports in action. There were events like soccer, javelin, long jump and gumboot throw. When the Olympics were over the teachers handed out medals to people that deserved them.

Valarie Adams Wins Silver At The Rio Olympic Games

The Olympic medals are handed out for the women's shot put: Valerie Adams silver, Michelle Carter gold and Anita Marton ...
Shot put superstar, Valarie Adams has won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Michelle Carter from U.S.A won with a mighty 20.63m throw that was to great for Adams.Carter blew away the competition with her final throw after trailing Adams for the entire competition. Anita Morton from Hungary finished third. Cooler conditions in Rio mean that throws were generally shorter than expected.
